These are the sketches and studies I did in paint to prepare for the works in my Altered Muggle Art collection. I've taken time-lapse reels while painting these, the reels are up on Instagram and TikTok which are fun to watch.
I have had this vintage scrapbook around and saved it for painting and drawing on because the textured craft / parchment paper was just so rough and inviting as a surface to work on. It is very old, and even smells like old book! I think that really lends itself to the magical feel, it smells like an old magical library!
The paper is very fragile, you'll want to handle gently to not rip the edges, and make sure your hands are clean and free of oil to not leave smudges on the pages. It's also easy to remove the pages if you wish to frame any of the art.
I've photographed this entire sketchbook so the illustrations are available to collect individually as well.
Altered Muggle Art : With this collection, I’m capturing magical moments from my non-magical “muggle” point of view. By taking vintage artworks and altering them to depict magical places and creatures, I am creating a historical fiction around the idea that the world of wizards was real.
