FAQ - Commissions & Fandom Requests
I love hearing your ideas for art and am open to commissions! Feel free to drop me a note to chat about ideas or ask about my availability for commissions.
(FYI, I'm a mum of three kids, so I only work on ideas that are family-friendly because my kids are around when I'm painting! )

Do you take commissions?
Yes, I do take commissions... kind of!
My commissions are not the traditional commission where you pay a deposit and then tell me what to paint like an art director.
Instead, I treat commissions as : your idea inspires me to paint something and you are first in line to collect it if you like the finished art.
I find this process much less stressful, because I am free to paint what suits the vintage art best. And if for whatever reason you don't want the finished piece, there's no commitment... you can just pass and I will offer it to another collector.
So in a way it's more like, I am taking requests for ideas... and you get first dibs on your idea!
Please note : I am not open for commissions for family or pet portraits, cottage or landscape paintings, horror, violent scenes, or NUDES, lol!
How much does a commission cost?
It varies on the size of the art and the complexity of the commission. You can get an idea for my prices by browsing my previous Original Artwork. Drop me a note and I can give you an estimate.
What is your process for commissions?
First, we chat about your idea. Then, if it's something I feel I can do, then I will source a suitable piece of art for that idea.
Not all ideas work with every piece of art! Sometimes the texture is too heavy, or the colour isn't right, or there isn't enough useable space. So it can take me a little time to find the right vintage art for your idea.
Once I've found vintage art to work with, I will illustrate it in a way that I feel best works with the style of that art. This can take me some time, particularly if it is difficult subject matter.
I like to involve you in the process, so I film my painting in time-lapse and share this with you and on social media.
Then when it is finished, you are first in line to purchase the artwork. If it is not what you were hoping for, I will offer it on my website for someone else to collect. (Then, if you still are interested in an original artwork, I will keep my eye out for another piece that suits your idea.)
At the end I create a reel on social media showing the whole process of altering the art. I like to send this to you along with a certificate of authenticity... but sometimes I forget to do this (my brain is onto the next painting!) so please remind me if it is not included with your original artwork!
I'd like a painting with something in it from [insert fandom here]
If you are keen on a particular fandom, drop me a note to tell me all about it! Then, I recommend signing up for my email newsletter.
My newsletter comes out once a month or so, and you'll get a link to the Early Access page here on my website. On that page I share my current work in progress, as well as some vintage pieces I've collected and am still considering ideas for. You can send me your ideas for those pieces, or put your name down for something that's already in the works. You can follow what I'm working on in Stories on Instagram.
Then when those paintings are ready I will get in touch to give you first dibs to collect it... but if you'd like to pass there's no pressure / commitment, and I offer it to the next person who is on the waiting list for art. Easy!
I have my own vintage painting, will you alter it?
Yes, I am happy to alter artwork that belongs to you! This depends a lot on the surface of the art. For instance, if there's too much texture it might limit where and how much I can add into it. Or if it has a heavy varnish, the paint may not stick well. So it would be very helpful to just send me a photo of your art when we are chatting, and I'll be able to tell you if it's possible to do something with it!
While I am very careful, any alterations made to the art are done at your own risk. Shipping costs both ways are also your responsibility.
Will you make prints of my commission?
By default I retain all reproduction rights to my artwork, including commissions, and may create prints and digital downloads from that artwork. If you would prefer me to NOT reproduce the artwork, the cost of the commission will be more. If you wish to commission artwork that you want to reproduce and sell yourself, please chat with me about this and we can change those terms.
