On my desk...

Hello there!

January is an important month for me creatively, because the quiet winter time is perfect for resetting my studio space, and planning out my art for the year ahead.

On social media this month, I am sharing my new fantasy & sci-fi artwork in my Stories.  You'll catch glimpses of the new work, and I often share the uncut time-lapse videos of the art being cleaned, repaired, painted, and things that inspire me along the way. (I will also be sharing reels of original artwork I created at the end of 2024... so keep your eye out for those!)

I collected A LOT of vintage art to alter! So this January I am going to spend my painting time altering small pieces and exploring new ideas.

Then in February, I'll be delving into a couple special pieces set aside for new fandoms that hit close to the heart with me!

I recommend signing up for my newsletter (scroll down to the newsletter signup below, or you can drop me a note here) to get Early Access to my new art and little goodies along the way!

"Dark Side Floral : Boba's Blooms"

New additions to my Dark Side Florals. I get a kick out of the Ewoks celebrating at the end of Return of the Jedi, and one is playing drums on the helmets of storm troopers. An utterly morbid upcycle, because you know those troopers were dead! Got me thinking, there might be a florist Ewok out there, repurposing helmets as flower vases to brighten up their table in their treetop huts. So the alteration of vases into helmets is my nod at the resourcefulness of the Ewok!

(Jan 2025) Original, Prints & digitals coming soon. Altered painting on canvas.

“Muggles? They don't see nothing.”  —Stan Shunpike

This vintage painting is a study of another even older vintage painting! The artist did a great job capturing the warmth of the original artist's style. With my alteration, I loved the idea of everyone going around their own business, oblivious to the obviously out-of-place Knight bus in the middle of downtown Paris.

(Jan 2025) Original, Prints & digitals coming soon. Altered painting on canvas.

“ You have your mother's eyes.”  —Professor Snape

I found this portrait print of a portrait style popular in the 1700's... I also had a couple pairs of cosplay glasses that gave me an idea! What if Harry was born in 1780 instead of 1980? This is a little nod to that idea.

(Jan 2025) Original, Prints & digitals coming soon. Altered vintage print.

“This is Loonie Luna.. I mean Luna!”  —Hermoine

I found this portrait print of a portrait style popular in the 1700's... I also had a fabulous pair of cosplay Luna Lovegood glasses that gave me an idea! What if Luna was born in 1780 instead of 1980? This is a little nod to that idea.

(Jan 2025) Original, Prints & digitals coming soon. Altered vintage print.

Shy Creatures

This was a special request... a herd of mooncalves! They are adorable, gentle creatures, which debuted in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.  I've seen conflicting illustrations of them... Newt Skamander describes them as having smooth grey skin, so that's the version I've gone with, with just wisps of hair on the tops of their heads and backs. They are very shy, just starting to emerge from the woods in the moonlight.

(Jan 2025) Original, Prints & digitals coming soon. Altered painting on canvas.

“ The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force.”
—Lord Vader

(Jan 2025) Prints & digitals coming soon. Ink & acrylic on vintage print engraving print.

"Breaking the Prime Directive Over Italy"

(Jan 2025) Prints & digitals coming soon. Watercolour on vintage print.

"Professor?" --Hermoine

I was totally kicking myself for missing the "Wolf Moon" full moon in January to share the reel of this! I painted this one int he same style as my portrait of Peter Pettigrew... I can't wait to share with you the transformation of Professor Lupin into a werewolf!

I have one more portrait to paint in this series... can you guess who it will be? Then all three will be available to collect individually as originals.

(Oct 2024) Original, prints & digitals available soon.

"Post Apocalyptic Boston"

This was a special request... I loved hearing about the petition to keep the CITGO sign up in Boston long after it changed locations. The idea that it would still be standing in the far future when global warming has turned the globe into a water world was a fun one to explore.  Prints & digitals coming soon.

(Sep 2024) -- I'll be sharing this reel soon!

One of a Kind Show

I am delighted to be joining on at the OOAK Toronto for my second year! I've rented a LARGER space to show my art, and will have new art with me. You'll find me there during the second half of the show (this suits me best, my kids are still in school and it's a big thing me being away for these six days!) Looking forward to seeing you there!
