Bumblebee Cottage - upcycled vintage painting
“Bumblebee Cottage”
There's something about bumblebees that is so.... bumbly! It absolutely makes no sense how they can fly with their tiny wings and enormous bodies. Their low buzzing as they lazily go from flower to flower is mesmerizing. I enjoyed altering this painting with these enormous gentle bumblebees collecting pollen from the conifer trees (yes, trees do flower and make pollen!)
The original vintage painting by M. Weston was provided to me by a local collector who wanted something fun added to “their cottage” painting. We enjoyed chatting ideas through for the alteration, with the initial inspiration being my other painting “Into The Woods” featuring giant ladybugs. We both loved bumblebees and that idea just stuck.
