The forest moon of Endor is inhabited by the most adorable tribe in the galaxy... it was a pleasure to draw the cheeky little band having a snack by the lake. I imagined them excitedly pointing at the strange looking falcon that had soared overhead before descending into the cover of the trees. Perhaps it belonged to the strange creatures who built the great metal tree off in the distance.
The original vintage painting was provided by a local collector who wanted something fun added to a painting that had been in their familiy for several years.
COMMISSION :
Feb 27, 2026 Hi Julia!
I'm all finished! I took some photos and a video of the painting, would love to know what you think. The last thing to do is to varnish the bits I've painted in, so that they are protected and also blend in a bit more with the slightly shinier surface of the painting. But other than that it's almost ready to go home to you! --Heather
P.S. "Yub Nub" means "Freedom" in Ewokese :)
To Julia July 31 - So my sketches are always a little scribbly, just to get the ideas out there. I'll do some more detailed studies before painting. I'm loving the Ewoks hanging out by the tree stumps, one Ewok facing towards us having a snack (like in the movie.) I think it would add a lot to put the planet of Endor ghosted in the sky, as you see it in the film.
Would love to know what you think of the options (Feel free to reply using the chat bot below if it's easier than sending an email) :
Option 1 : The satellite dish subtle and small in the tree line, soft greys. No Millennium falcon.
Option 2 : Moving the dish over and making it more prominent. The Ewoks are curious, but haven't learned otherwise fear their visitors yet (pre- Return of the Jedi.) No Millennium falcon.
Option 3 : Shrinking the satellite dish to quite small and soft colours so it can be almost missed in the treelike, like it's a distance away. Introducing the Millennium falcon. I'm playing around with the sizes... absolutely will have the original circular dish on it, lol!
