“Garmadon Family Portraits : Lord Garmadon, Christofern and Lloyd Garmadon”
This family portrait has a lot of family drama built in!
If you aren’t familiar with Ninjago, here’s the short version : Lloyd Garmadon is the Green Ninja, protecting the city of Ninjago from the evil Lord Garmadon… his father! Through all the seasons of shows and the movie, the perpetual drama is that Lloyd wants his father’s love and believes deep down his father is good… but his father is indifferent to him and more interested in being evil!
In Episode 200, Lord Garmadon is trying to learn what it is to be “good.” His roommate encourages him to get a plant to practice being caring. Lord Garmadon affectionately names his plant “Christofern,” and gets emotionally connected to the little fern.
Meanwhile… he completely neglects his actual son Lloyd! The jealousy from Lloyd towards Christofern that grows over the next few episodes is frustratingly hilarious.
Needless to say… my kids love the LEGO family drama! So when I found these little frames, I had a resounding YES from my kids when I suggested painting the Garmadon family portrait. Christofern absolutely had to be in the main frame… coming between father and son. Garmadon is grinning away oblivious to the drama between his beloved Christofern and his son, who is smiling quietly despite his inner turmoil.
