I wonder if Sméagol caught any fish in that beautiful, cool water? 

This was a tiny alteration on a vintage print… the original had a fisherman with their gear standing in that spot scouting to the best vantage point to catch a fish! So it felt like the perfect spot for Gollum peering from the safety of the rocks. I used the same style as the original artist, keeping the same slightly dark linework around the figure that were on the original fisherman. 

The original vintage print (possible artist by C.Gill 1864) was collected locally in Ontario. It had been a bit neglected over the years, with dust and water damage. The print itself has “overprint,” where the printing machinery was misaligned and the landscape appears a little blurry in places… which is to be expected from printing practices 75 years ago! This isn’t noticeable to the naked eye, you only really notice if you go in with a magnifying glass to have a look like I do!
