"Shore Leave : Tie Fighters" upcycled vintage painting by Heather Castles
Everyone needs a little holiday... even servants of the Empire! I love the idea of storm troopers heading out in their tie fighters to remote planets for a little r&r. Or perhaps visit grandma?
The is a new reproduction painting I used for this upcycle. That means the artist who painted it, painted dozens and dozens with almost exactly the same composition, just a varying colour palette. It is meant to emulate masters like Bob Ross who beautifully use texture as part of their painting technique... instead they blobbed on thick resin to fake that look, and painted over top.
I felt the rainbow colours of the original were distracting, so muted the colours of the texture back to greens to soften it a bit.
The frame is in very good condition, sturdy and ready to hang... but has also been mass produced so has some imperfections if you look closely.
