My husband was disappointed I didn't turn this tiger into Battle Cat!
But... Cringer was my favourite characters from He-Man! I was just a little girl in the 80s, and spent Saturday mornings watching He-Man with my brothers. The cartoon was entertaining but it was full of guys and action, with not a lot of female heroes to look up to as a favourite character. And when you're a kid, all you want is to connect with the characters in the cartoons you're watching! (I mean, She-Ra was awesome, but also the sterotypical super-model heroine... not someone my awkward 8-year-old self could to relate to!)
So I think it's understandable, to a little girl watching He-Man, that the timid, silly Cringer was my favourite character!
My brothers had the He-Man action figures and they would "fight" each other... and I would steal their Cringer action figure he would hang out with barbies instead!
I think the main reason I liked Cringer, was because I was a shy kid... I liked the idea of a character that was also timid, but could find a bit of inner bravery when needed. Cringer made me feel like I could be brave, too!
This print was found locally in Ontario. Titled "At the Edge of Night-Tiger" by Richard Stanley, 2022, printed by White Pine Editions, Toronto, Ontario. I found a vintage frame for the art, and it has a new white matte to help the colours pop.
