My Little Brick Fisherman - PRINT in reclaimed brass frame

I thrifted this piece of art a couple years ago, and had been waiting for a special idea for it. I kept coming back to how much I enjoy building with LEGO, and how when you play with it, you mightn’t have all the right pieces, but your imagination fills in the gaps. So I added in elements made of LEGO (seagull, helm, bumpers on side of boat, and a weathered fisherman catching a big fish) into this painting to celebrate my favourite childhood toy.

I found this vintage painting by Howard at a local thrift store. It was a cute little painting, but an example of a style that has fallen a bit in the grandpa art category… and I think it’s a shame, because they are very well done! Adding in a bit of fun I hope to encourage an appreciation for this older, skillful style of artwork.
