As kids, my sister & I had to share the ONE girl lego piece… it was the original girl pirate minifigure, and she was "so beautiful." We made lego shirts for her out of sloped bricks. She caused a lot of sibling arguments, lol!

Anyway... this alteration was really fun, with a nod to my childhood lego sets (Black Seas Barracuda Lego 6285 and the Forbidden Island 6270.) We got these sets on Boxing Day in 1989, they had been returned and had pieces missing so were discounted (we didn't have a lot of money for new Lego!) But Lego was so good... we mailed away and they sent us the missing pieces for free!

I found this vintage painting locally in Ontario, rescued it from a garage where it was collecting dust and was splattered with plaster. After giving it a good clean, it was fun adding in the alteration... I kept the original shape of the rigging, and part of the ship itself merged with the bricks to work with the original artist's work.  A bit thank you to Jodi who took photos of her Lego sets for me for reference!

Mixed media on vintage painting on canvas. The vintage frame is made of wood, is in excellent condition and light.

A note on colour : This is one of those paintings that the colours change dramatically depending on the light! It is a dark painting, with not a lot of cool tones... but in different lights it has a bluish cast to it. If you'd like to see a video of it before purchasing, drop me a note and I we can arrange a quick chat to get a better feel for it.
