“Still Life with Combadge”

As I altered this painting, I wondered if leaving this tiny token of the future on the table would have an affect on the future of that civilization.  The concept of the prime directive, or non-interference with other non-space travelling cultures, is an interesting one! 

The original vintage painting was painted by Violet De Maxie (1899 - 1988.) She taught art and loved to experiment with styles, painting a lot of still life studies of glass and fruit… this one is particularly nice. I chose this piece specifically for its distinct 1960’s style to create the illusion that someone broke the prime directive in our history by leaving their combadge carelessly on the table… and an artist captured that moment in art.
