In the heat of the day, the alleys on this backwater planet are deserted by the humanoids… but a solitary robot waits to assist anyone who needs a battery recharged.
Life isn’t always easy on the planets in the far reaches of the galaxy. The climates can be harsh and rough on the cities built up there by the inhabitants… and new supplies can be scarce, with ships not running frequently.
To manage, the locals rely heavily on robots to help make life liveable. Little robots to carry the groceries, humanoid ones to take on more difficult tasks. And when the robots themselves broke down, they were used as scrap parts, or to make something new (like hanging lights!)
This little upcycled vintage art is about that difficult life… iIt was fun adding in the wires, tarps, doorway, lights, antennae, power outlets, and blaster holes in the wall! I love thinking that power would need to be shared, power lines reaching from every direction like roots from a tree searching for water.
I collected this vintage print locally in Ontario. The original artwork is by Juan Sanz del Poyo (1913-1976,) and this alley scene is of “Madrid - Arco De Cuchilleros.”
Art drop notes : This is a proper "straight from the artist's desk" art drop! I was feeling very inspired these last weeks and decided that instead of doing a fancy, polished art drop, I would just paint, paint, paint more art for May the 4th! I am now putting them all into their vintage frames... that means repairing the old frames, cleaning the glass, then photographing each one. I still wanted to give you early access to my new art before my art drop on May the 4th, so I've taken some quick photos of the unframed artwork for you.
Note : If you would like to collect this artwork unframed, please send me a message after placing the order, and I will give you a $100 discount on your artwork.
