With this vintage piece as a starting point, I delved into my Scottish heritage with a classic Nessie sighting! (Now I’m fully aware that this is not a landscape of Loch Ness… but I used my creative license to break the rules for this one!)

Artists often paint what they see, so I imagined that the original artist was one of the many who have reported seeing Nessie, and memorialized that sighting in paint. 

But just because something has been captured in paint or photograph, doesn’t make it real. The famous photograph of the Loch Ness Monster taken by George Spicer in 1933 was proved sixty years later to be a hoax. And today with AI generated artwork, we are even more aware that what we see isn’t always real. 

But isn’t it fun to pretend Nessie is real? 

Original vintage painting has details on the back that are difficult to read, but what I could make out was : “The Five Sisters of Hintail, Lock Daich, The McCrae County, Scotland, Jan. 1960 E. F……”
