Floating Junkers - original upcycled vintage painting

While the humanoids bustle overhead in rush hour traffic, the robots are carrying out the lesser tasks of keeping the city clean and tidy.

These junker droids natter away across the river as they ferry broken old droids and scraps off ships to the junkers who will either reuse the parts… or smelt them down and make something new.

This little upcycled vintage art is about the robots who make life easier for the people who live in the busy cities at the far reaches of the galaxy. It was fun adding in the ships flying overhead, antennae on the rooftops, open flaps from where delivery drones would lower parcels into the homes, and most importantly, the robots ferrying the scraps in the boats down river. Can you read what it says on the little ex-astro robot’s boat? Notice he’s got a little down motor because his arms are too short to maneuver the ore.

I collected this vintage print locally in Ontario. The original artwork is by Italian artist, Carlo Salvini (1824-1899.) He frequently painted watercolours of the gondolas on the canals of Venice. 

Art Drop Notes : This is a proper "straight from the artist's desk" art drop! I was feeling very inspired these last weeks and decided that instead of doing a fancy, polished art drop, I would just paint, paint, paint more art for May the 4th! I am now putting them all into their vintage frames... that means repairing the old frames, cleaning the glass, then photographing each one. I still wanted to give you early access to my new art before my art drop on May the 4th, so I've taken some quick photos of the unframed artwork for you.
