“There Once Was A Ship”
There once was a ship who put to sea… unfortunately, she passed within reach of a kraken, and down to Davy Jones locker she goes!
My “Octopus Vs Ship” series explores the idea that if octopus were enormous, they would have so much fun playing with passing ships! After all, octopus are curious, intelligent creatures. They have control over every suction cup on every tentacle, each with the ability to touch, taste and smell. I’m not sure the sailors on board the ship would appreciate that bit of trivia while their ship is being tossed around… but I find it fascinating!
This vintage ship painting by D. Mount was originally purchased from The Art House in Toronto. I collected this painting from its original owner in the Simcoe area. The painting is in good condition, with minor fine cracking across the surface. The frame has been finely splattered with dark paint, but I think it adds character. The artist did a fantastic job of replicating this ship painting… though they forgot one mast, I had to add that in between the sails! There are a lot of amazing artists out there who enjoy replicating the masters, and this is a fantastic example of their mastery of the medium and attention to detail.
