Winter Wander Droid - PRINT 4x6 in ornate frame OOAK Show

"Winter Wander Droid"  

I thought this winter painting was such a beautiful scene, but it needed someone enjoying a winter walk by that calm pond. I’m not sure the local wildlife would approve, but the droid seems to be enjoying himself while he searches the planet for rebel scum. 

The original vintage painting was by Anna Jalava.  The Jalava family immigrated to Canada in the 1950’s from Finland, and they all were skilled painters. I’ve ended up collecting a few of their pieces, and it’s fun seeing the same composition painted in each of their styles… they must have enjoyed painting altogether! This vintage piece has some colour fading and wear, and after thorough cleaning I was unable to restore to the original blues. So I have worked with it and see that faded colour as part of its charm. There were a couple chips out of the frame which I decided to not completely repair (I see them as laugh lines!) but instead colour matched to not distract from the main piece.
