The King's Crown, original upcycled vintage painting

“Mr Frodo, look! The king has got a crown again!” —Sam

One of my favourite moments in the extended film “The Return of the King” is when Frodo is at a low point, and Sam tries to encourage him. Then  they are given a glimmer of hope when the sun comes out and illuminates the flowers growing like a crown on the fallen head of a statue of a king of Gondor.

For that one moment they felt hope… and then a shadow passes over and they are plunged back into their perilous journey towards Mount Doom. What incredible strength and courage they had… I love that they were given that bit of encouragement when they needed it.

For the hard core fans… it’s interesting that it’s actually the reverse in Tolkien’s book, and Frodo is the one pointing out the king’s crown to Sam! That is the luxury of having hundreds of pages to describe the nature of their relationship, where at times they both felt strength and weakness, and were both at times encouraging and pulling each other up along the way. Such a lovely friendship.

The original vintage painting was collected locally in Ontario. It's a good example of mass produced artwork, in a very familiar oil painting style of the 1960's. The frame looks old and ornate, however it is light composite material, popular in mass produced art from the era. It was given a clean but otherwise was in very good condition.
