Portrait of a Droid : walking battery, pencil study on vintage paper

This is a proper "straight from the artist's desk" art drop! I was feeling very inspired these last weeks and decided that instead of doing a fancy, polished art drop, I would just paint, paint, paint more art for May the 4th! I am now putting them all into their vintage frames... that means repairing the old frames, cleaning the glass, then photographing each one. I still wanted to give you early access to my new art before my art drop on May the 4th, so I've taken some quick photos of the unframed artwork for you.

I have a soft spot for droids… particularly when they’ve been rewired and are a little faulty, a little cheeky, or a little neurotic! I love the idea of sentient robots sitting for their portraits, like people used to do (before photos were on the scene), their likenesses being captured by artists from various planets across the galaxy.
