I thought it was touching how the Nanny was made into a statue after he sacrificed himself for the Child. This painting plays with the idea that much like statues we have in cities today,“the guardian” is still there and remembered centuries later in the centre of the growing city.
The original vintage watercolour painting was collected locally in Ontario. It was actually unfinished in areas, the flowers at the base of the statue were pencilled in but not painted… so I added them in the style of the original artist.
